Enforce proper policies for inclusion
Implement and ensure policies that prohibit discrimination, harassment, and removal of individuals based on their gender, sexual orientation, family, health status (pregnancy, menstruation).
Ensure Fair Hiring Practices
Have a gender-blind hiring process that does not discriminate against women when hiring for a position, especially higher positions or positions in fields that are male-dominated. Fair Hiring extends to fair compensation, for the same work, ensure that female employees are offered the same pay as their male counterparts.
Recognize harassment
Make sure that harassment of all forms is prevented. This includes recognizing the various forms harassment comes in, including jokes, unsolicited touching, gestures, interactions during formal and informal meetings, emails and messages, etc.
Take all feedback and complaints seriously
When an employee complains about something that makes them uncomfortable, unhappy or feel unsafe in the workplace, make sure to listen, investigate and try to resolve the complaint. The most important thing is to ensure that such a case never happens again by placing reviewed and updated policies.
Introduce and normalize networking, mentoring, professional development opportunities for women.
Encourage women to also lead meetings and projects, giving them all the required assistance and equipment needed to carry out a successful project. This should include women leading projects on office affairs, business development, as well as meetings to propagate inclusivity in the workplace and open discussion and reporting of any discrimation, harassment, and/or discomfort.
